IndigoMoon Aussies
An Aussie is not the breed for everyone. If you are
considering an Aussie and have not owned one, please visit
the AKC and ASCA websites to familiarize yourself with their
personality and structure. Ask questions, most reputable
breeders and owners are more than willing to help you decide
if the Aussie is right for you and your family.
If you are interested in an older dog, or have no interest in
competing, visit the local rescue organizations and consider
adoption. If you are purchasing an Aussie because you feel
it's unique looks and characteristics would fit your lifestyle,
remember this is a long term commitment, Aussies can live
for up to 15 years. Seek a breeder who is attempting to
enhance the BREED, not their bank account. Ask questions,
be informed. The Aussie, as with all breeds can have health
issues, the most common, eye problems, hip dysplasia and
epilepsy. Discuss these risks with your breeder. The breeder
who has spent considerable time and money in an effort to
breed only the best, will usually ask at least $600.00, even for
a pet. Be wary of those "doggy deals", as with most things in
life, you get what you pay for!
